The truth about my prom night.

I haven’t told this to anyone but it got to a point where I had to admit at least to myself that the real reason I didn’t attend prom is that I wasn’t confident I would pull the look I had in my head.
You see prom was this night that people talked about since first year and it was something that girls planned with precision. I knew that I wanted to go for prom. I knew that I wanted to look stunning. I knew that I wanted a long gown and nice silver sandals. But I wasn’t sure that I could attain the look in my head. So I came up with all these excuses so that my girlfriends wouldn’t feel like I was bailing out. And the night came and I missed my prom because I wasn’t confident enough.
With hindsight I wish I went for prom. I wish that I had been confident enough to believe that I would look stunning in my choice of dress. I had actually seen my dream dress and tried it on. The shop manager thought I looked amazing but it was all too much for me. I don’t like being the centre of attention and I felt like the dress was over the top but I also deep down felt like I couldn’t pull it through.
Well they say in life there’s second chances and I got a chance to wear my dream prom dress in my best friends wedding. Her colour scheme was sky blue and she allowed me to pick a dress of my choice. In my opinion I looked stunning (I hope she doesn’t read this).
And that’s why I felt that as the prom season is now upon us I should encourage any girls out there. Don’t be discouraged by the catalogues of prom dresses. Not everyone can look like a model but we are all stunning when we wear our choice of dress confidently. Shop around and try on different styles of dresses. Don’t just try on what you have in your mind but be open to the possibilities that designers have created for you. If you know for sure you want a mermaid gown, try a short dress, a bandage dress, a dipped hem, Grecian style and all other styles available.
Also try on a range of colours. We all have favourite colours but sometimes sticking to your favourite colour makes you predictable and boring. If you are a  girl who loves black why not try jewel tones or metallic and see how that looks on you.  Bright colours tend to lift moods and boost confidence. You can also stick to black but with embellishment to give it the glam look. Try pearls or sequins perhaps even glitter.
Having done all that you can please remember that prom is all about having fun and dancing with your friends. Make it a night to remember, smile, dance and let the night roll.
