What colour of handbag do you fancy?

Last weekend i sat in the bedroom and had a good and sober look at my handbags.
I was a tad shocked that there doesn't seem to be any correlation between the handbags colours, materials, sizes and even style. So it got me thinking what makes a gal want a handbag when she sees one.

I need your help here.

I am a conservative gal, you won't catch me with a luminous green bag or sky blue (bright cerulean as the colour specialists call it) for that matter. Actually now that we speak colour i just don't know where all  these colour names are coming from. Last week i heard someone refer to what i would have thought was just plain light blue as Bright turquoise and when i got home i googled it. They were right it does exist and not only that but goodness me there is a colour called capri, oh come on people we are making life so hard.

Now matching colours is already complicated without taking plain blue and dividing it to about 100 different shades but well i am thankful that i don't need to know all that as i religiously stick to black or brown!! The brown i am referring to is what the specialists call traditional brown ha! can't  beat that.

Today my mission is one. To understand how you pick handbag colours.
Do you buy red because you have a red pair of shoes , brilliant lavender because your friends wedding scheme is lavender and you want to match not withstanding the fact that you may never use the bag again or do you buy a neutral colour so that you can carry it monday to Sunday and no one will notice.

Please talk to me and tell me, in your wildest dreams, if you had no budget constrains and you didn't need to match handbags to your wardrobe, what is that one colour of handbag you would pick and why?

Looking forward to hearing from you!!
This should be fun.

  5. Ok i have two comments on earth colours which to be honest is a phrase i have heard before but cannot claim to understand so i have searched what earth colours are.
This blew my mind!! Apparently there are earth colours, jupiter , moon, venus, pluto and all planet colours. This is just amazing.

Anyway wikipedia describes earth tone as a colour scheme that draws from a colour palette of browns, tans, greys, green, oranges, whites and some reds!!!

At this rate i may need to redefine the colour wheel in my head.

  8. I love black...funny enough I just admire them from the window screens...lol I have none that is black but I have I think 3 hand bags one pinkish ( read one of the ranges of colors of pink, I am not sure which one), the other brown and the other white...don't ask me how I got the pinkish one but I think I just fell in love with the design then one day it came in handy when I realized I had a pinkish outfit for a wedding and the handbag worked like magic...honestly...I am not a handbag person, I buy and hang then in my closest! I am always with bag packs, mostly ranging from black to navy blue :) maybe one day the handbags will find meaning but trust me I buy them coz of something unique about their design not color...color for me comes second...but black I will have to look for one to match my many pairs of black shoes and if I ever get the guts, match my belts which I equally buy and hang up...lol

  9. Black and dark shades of brown would do for me,whether I have the extra cash or not. I agree that bags blend well with shoes, and I cant picture me in yellow or green heels...so I stick to black & brown...however, I would not mind a silver clutch bag to be used once a yr!

  11. Gal am sure you know where i fall. Today morning i thought, my black handbag is torn and i have an interview on Monday and you guessed it...i'll be dressed in navy blue so i need a black handbag really. Then next thought was do i? Conclusion, i'll just carry my certs in my (black) folder and i'll leave all else in the car. So i can do without it. Yes you got it am not a handbags person. I own 3, the black torn one, a brown one and a cream one (which is still hanging in my wardrobe). I stick with blacks and browns and they have to be for all occasions and by the way i'd rather the small bags not those big ones that my son can fit in...

NB:Rosekate, its time i introduced you to my sis, you need a few colourful friends...she has enough variety and matches them with her clad and i can guarantee you she cannnot be caught dead in what i wear. Given what we are all going for...clearly you need more colour

  12. Hi Gal
I like black and brown, bohemian in style, White comes quite in handy during summer, I like my clutch purses too they add a touch of class, not so much of a big purse person either

  13. Black and brown are the colors I must have, most likely they will match with my clothes and shoes. I will chose the handbag coz of its design and of course the quality.
I am looking to get some colors now to add to my accessories and wardrobe.

hi gal, tried to post a comment not sure it came...but any how choice of bag colour alot depends on the vision of the end game. If say i see that i want to be happy and rediate happiness and great mood i will choose bright colours like red, yellow and purple. I like to have a variety of bags to try on my attire to chose which does best for which day. Hope this helps
