I was introduced to Shanice by one of my regular clients. She called to book an appointment and told me that she wanted a dress to wear as a guest to a wedding. As usual, i asked her if it was someone special getting married as that sets the pace for the search. She replied "Rosy i will tell you everything when we meet".
So i was quite anxious to meet her. First impression was that she is immaculate ; She has a very athletic figure, her make up was on point, every strand of hair was in place, manicure freshly done and she had a very firm tone. I placed her at the 35-40 age bracket , so when she said she was 62 i was shocked and had to compose myself quickly to keep up with the conversation.
She was so bubbly and within 5 minutes she had showed me pictures of her 6 grandchildren and you could tell she loves her family but i was still stuck on the fact that she was 62. She doesn't look it at all. I was curious to find out more about her exercise regime, her diet, anything, that was the secret to looking that good at 62. I quickly concluded it was good genes as she didn't exercise much and didn't watch her diet religiously either.
Shanice was married to her first husband for 20+ years and they decided that it was time to end it . However unlike most divorce scenarios , they have remained good friends through the years, celebrating birthdays together, attending their children's weddings and special events and even introducing each other to their current partners.
Her ex-husband is now getting married and she is invited to the wedding. She wanted us to find a dress that was stunning but not over the top. She wanted to took good but not like one trying too hard, she wanted eyes on her but more eyes on the bride.
After trying on several styles we settled on this lovely red midi dress with pearl detail sweetheart neckline. It fit her perfectly and we even managed to get a matching bolero.
After 3 days, Shanice called me sounding quite disappointed. Her daughter had managed to convince her that red is too loud for the wedding and that she should go for a muted colour. So we had another session and though i was still convinced that the red colour suited for her skin tone, i reluctantly agreed to let her change it to navy.
When someone wears "the dress" it shows. Their eyes will light up and from their body language you can tell that they are comfortable, which she wasn't. I knew she would be back so i let her take the navy dress.
The following day she was back, this time accompanied by two girlfriends and her younger daughter. I was glad because her girlfriends have known her for decades and would be honest. She tried on the navy dress first and we agreed that it looked nice but when she wore the red one, almost in unison we said "that's the winner".
So this weekend Shenice will be wearing the red dress to her ex-husband's wedding.

She is so brave, i wouldn't go. I would feel like everyone is thinking "look at the former". I wish her all the best x
