Kellie high
school sweetheart popped the question. He had done everything by the book, the
slow music, on one knee, and a gorgeous engagement ring. Having dated him for
several years, there was no other answer for her, but yes. She was thrilled,
and with multiple engagement pictures on her social media walls, she had
embarked on her wedding planning journey.
She was out with her
girls trying on their bridesmaid dresses just two weeks to the wedding when she
got the call from Joe. “Babe, I think I made a mistake, I am not ready for marriage.”
Kellie heard the words echo into her brain; she doesn’t remember how the rest
of the conversation. When at last, she looked up tears filling her eyes, her
girls were all around her and in their bridesmaid dresses no less, trying to
comfort her.
It took her months to
get over the depression that overcame, and she says that without her girls, she
wouldn’t have made it through a week. A year later, she finally found her way
back into the dating scene.
Kellie met Joe when she
was almost giving up on a first date, mostly because she found most dates to be
dull. She says that the minute she set her eyes on him, she knew he was
different. They became inseparable, or as Kellie puts it, he was the ying to
her yang and all that Jazz. Despite this, she was still convinced that she
didn’t want to go through with a formal wedding.
So when Joe asked for
her hand in marriage just a day before she turned thirty, she didn’t know what
to say. She just burst out crying, and Joe just held her in his arms. She
finally allowed him to place the ring on her finger.
Now Kellie was at The
Dress Shop by Ahadi with her bridesmaid, the same girls she had chosen the
first time. She told me that she wanted her girls to wear white with her
because she felt like they had been through so much together. She wanted to
share this special day with them as much as possible.
I was overwhelmed by
her story and was bent on seeing that Kellie got precisely what she wanted. We
brought out a variety of our white bridesmaid dresses, all in different
designs. They tried on several of the pieces, and they fell in love with most
of them.
Finally, they fell in
love with this gorgeous full-length white dress with a flattering V-neck. It
was the favorite style for all of them since it favors all body types. Our
bride was thrilled with this choice, she still hadn’t decided on the
accessories, but her girls were leaning towards silver.
