Stilletos

I  love stilettos .
I think they are sexy, they elongate the leg making it look slimmer and give you a zip in your step.
They also have a tendency to alter your posture by making the bust and the bum stand out. Walking in heels forces you to be upright and gives an air of confidence.

If you want to know the effect of a stiletto watch the people around you (men and women) when a lady passes by wearing killer stilettos. Stilettos are head turners !

I have tried on different stilettos from cheap ones to designers but they never seem to do anything for me.
Last month I FINALLY discovered why. I have wide feet and wide ankles :-)
So whenever I wear a stiletto it simply makes my legs look twice their size. I feel like an elephant leg trying to squeeze into baby shoes. I can walk in them but the proportion just isn't right.

Same thing applies to the new and hot trend of "barely there ankle strap heels".  In all honesty those shoes are to die for. They are trendy, they are hot, practical etc but again the strap around my ankle just made it look swollen :-) .

So bad was it that when i tried one on last week (the gorgeous black one above) the shop attendant asked if my feet were swollen :-) . Well that question kind of hurt

Fast forward to one month ago when I purchased a shoe that I normally wouldn't buy. I desperately needed a heel for the weekend and most shops were closed so I bought the first pair that fit me, a slightly chunky heel which was also a peep toe. It was a very comfortable shoe and when I looked in the mirror I knew that it balanced everything out.

The shoe elongated my feet and so they didn't look extra wide , the heel was slightly chunky hence "seeming" to hold the weight of the leg better and the pedicure well..... its always a plus to show off the well done nails.

I thought of sharing my experience with you to help you in your search for the next pair of shoe.
Always consider the width of your ankle and calf when choosing a pair of heels.
If you sense a lack of proportion, try a different heel width and see if that helps.
Like with everything else, if it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't.
