Autumn scarves

I woke up this morning, looked outside and it hit me that summer is waving us goodbye.
The temperatures have started dipping, the days are getting shorter and it's gloomy.

On a brighter note, in a few weeks time, Christmas season will be upon us. The malls will be well lit with beautiful decorations, shops will be playing Christmas carols and everyone will be talking about Christmas parties and presents. It will be time for office and family parties, chocolate and mince pies......, I bet you can tell am really looking forward. I must admit that the "season to be jolly" is my favourite time of the year.

But before we get there, we have to go through the wardrobe transition phase.
Don't you just hate it when it looks warm and bright outside and you leave the house in your little summer dress and sandals only for the rain to fall unexpectedly and you are left drenched and shivering? Or when it looks chilly and you put on your winter coat only to get to town and it's boiling hot?

Its all part of the season change and even for those of us who monitor the weather forecast religiously from all channels, we do get caught up at one point or another.

One of the key transition pieces to have in your handbag at this time (other than the compact umbrella) is a scarf.
As it is not winter yet, you do not need a heavy knit scarf but rather a light autumn scarf. This will come in handy in the chilly evening on your way from school or work or even on a night out when it gets really cold and you don't want to hide your outfit under a jacket.

When choosing an everyday scarf, try not to stick to the boring plain scarves. Some embroidery, fringing or beading will give your scarf an edge and make you outfit look more exciting.

When going out or to a party a sheer shimmer scarf or shawl will be perfect. Go for bold and daring colours that complement your outfit.

The shimmer in these scarves makes them statement pieces so avoid bold jewellery, as it will be too much.

Will you be incorporating scarves in your autumn wardrobe and what kind of scarves will you go for?
