Wedding, Cruise and Summer Party Dress Ideas

We have another lovely dipped hem dress that we think you will fall in love with.
This one has a longer skirt than the last one that we shared with you (Click here to see pics).

It has a flattering V-neck and an embroidery empire waistline detail that is very slimming and gives the much-coveted hourglass illusion.

In a range of colours this dress is made of a soft stretch draping fabric.

All you need is a dainty gold necklace and earring set and a black pair of heels and you'll be all set. A  pair of gold strappy sandals also looks great with this dress.

Guide to Buying Your Prom Dress 2015 | UK Prom Dresses Part 4

Dear prom queen,

We are mid March now and am sure the prom fever is kicking in. If you've just started following us, we have some great articles on essentials for prom, long prom dresses and short prom dresses.

Today we will talk about the asymmetric hem style of prom dress. Some boutiques will refer to them as dipped hem, or high low (hi lo)  but basically it’s the style of dress where the hem of the dress is not even. These seem to be extremely popular this year with a lot of girls choosing this style over the longer styles. It's the "it" style for the fashion conscious girl.

If you are the conservative "less is more “ kind of girl then we have just the right dress for you. It’s simple yet stunning. With a mid thigh skirt and a longer tail this dress has a flattering low v-neck and back and allows you to accessorise with a diamante necklace set. This dress also allows you to wear a proper bra, which is a plus for some girls. Available in 4 gorgeous colours and at only £39.99 what are you waiting for? Get it online here.

If you prefer plenty of sparkle, we have this boobtube sequin embellished dipped hem. The length is similar to the dress above but the sequin bodice detail gives this dress a more daring look.

Then there is the longer dipped hem with diamante detail. This dress has the red carpet glamour and the playful prom all in one.

This lilac dress has beautiful hand sewn diamante, sequin and bead detail and the best bit about it is that it has a corset back. At only £60, you’ll be lucky to get this in stock beyond this weekend. Get in Online here.

Oooh and we have this bonus style for you thats only £24.99,you really can't beat that.

That's all we have today. Hope you received some inspiration for your prom dress. Browse the dresses online here

Guide to Buying Your Prom Dress 2015 | UK Prom Dresses Part 3

Dear Prom Queen,

It's me again with your guide on buying a prom dress.Last time we looked at the short prom dress and today we are going to discuss the long prom dress.

The long prom dress can be extremely flattering and versatile as it exhibits grown up glamour which most year 11 and 13 girls love. With the ever-increasing range of slim flowing ball gowns as well as full Cinderella style ball gowns, you will be spoilt for choice.

Top on the list is the ultra flattering halter neck dress. This dress style is ideal for a girl who doesn't mind showing just a bit of cleavage. It has a neck lengthening effect and requires very little accessorising.

All you would need is a strapless bra and perhaps a matching set of a cocktail ring and a bracelet and you'll be done with accessorising. If you plan on wearing this style of dress, bear in mind that most halter necks will expose your shoulder blades so it might be time to start some exfoliation:-)  on your back to ensure a glowing skin is on display.
Halter neck dresses are very flattering on most body shapes as they generally have an empire waistline, which gives a slim waist illusion, and the flowing skirt finishes off the hourglass figure.

If you have a pear shaped body, you may want to avoid this style as it only makes your hips look wider and hence you look about two sizes bigger than you really are.

Most halter neck dresses will have some embellishments on the waistline to give it the glamorous party look and it's important to match the accessories to the embellishment in terms of colour and texture.

When thinking of a hairstyle it would be great to sweep the hair away from the face so that the halter neck detail of the dress can be seen, as it's the "heart" of the dress.

Then we have the V-neck long prom dresses. These are the dresses with a plunging neckline but have straps, which could either be thin or wide. This is an excellent dress choice for an apple shape body. This dress shows abit of cleavage and then nips in at the waist creating an illusion of the hourglass figure. The drape of the dress is extremely important and clingy fabrics should be avoided.

You can accessorise this style of dress with some nice silver or gold toned costume jewellery for the party look effect.

The one shoulder  long prom dress is another popular and trendy style. This is super flattering and also the perfect dress for a pear shaped body as it draws attention to the top part of the body and away from the widest part of the body, which is the hip. It's not very appropriate if you are top heavy or apple shaped as makes your top look wider.

Depending on the shape of the dress, you may not need a necklace especially if the waistline has diamanté detail but if the dress is plain you can opt for a simple choker to add some sparkle.

When thinking of a hairstyle, ensure that the hair is swept away from the bare shoulder. Make sure you invest in a good quality bra. Avoid the temptation to get a bra with straps that match the dress, it really looks awful. If you must wear a bra with straps then avoid the one shoulder dress.
The drape of the dress in a chiffon fabric is amazing.

The boobtube or bandeau long prom dress is another popular style. This is the dress that is strapless and is ideal when you want to show off your slender shoulders. These dresses come in different necklines. You can have a sweetheart neckline, which is flirty and playful, the boat neck for the demure conservative look or the sensual cowl neck.

As usual we recommend that before you buy a dress you should walk into a boutique and try on different styles before you finally decide on what you will wear on that all-important day.For a variety of Prom dresses, all available in UK and at less than £99, please click here.

Remember it's not just about the style of dress but also body shape and skin tone. Make sure you feel happy and relaxed in the dress.

See you next week as we discuss assymetric styles. If you missed part one of the blog click here and for part two hereAs usual do leave us a comment below if you have a question or if we have left out a particular style.

Look forward to hearing from you

Guide to Buying Your Prom Dress 2015 | UK Prom Dresses

Hi prom queens,

It’s me again with your weekly guide on buying a prom dress. Last week we talked about the budget and the importance of making sure that you have a list of all items you will need for the all important night.

Today we’ll talk about the length of the dress with emphasis on the short prom dress. Am sure you have a dream dress in mind that is inspired by someone you admire. This could be a magazine ad that caught your eye, a movie character or even a celebrity, which is great!

I hope you managed to scan through Vogues best-dressed list of the recent Golden Globes Awards. If you didn’t , don’t worry I’ve got you covered. Grab a cup of coffee and click on the link HERE. Another event to watch out for is the Oscars night in February where all the celebrities pull all the stops. You don’t have to wait till February, you can scan through 2014 Oscars best dressed list here.

When it comes to length of prom dress, there are 4 options that are really popular:
1.     Classic ballgown which is full length,
2.     Tea length prom dresses,
3.     Short prom dresses and
4.     Assymetric hem including high-low and waterfall prom dresses.

The short prom dress is the dress with a hemline above the knee.  We will call this dress short and sweet. This is for the girl looking for something sassy, fashionable and edgy.

If you decide to go for the short and sweet dress, i would suggest giving it a modern twist; think High School Musical and draw inspiration.

To achieve the princess look in a short and sweet dress i would suggest a dress with a fitted bodice, sweetheart neckline and a full tulle skirt.  Add some crystals and jewels embellishment on the bodice of your dress for the sparkle effect. This creates emphasis on your waist and gives a real fairytale look.  Corset lace-up dresses are also becoming very popular in the U.K.

For a flirty look I suggest an off-shoulder short and sweet dress in a feminine soft chiffon fabric. Add some diamante and sequin belt embellishment on the waistline or a corsage flower on the shoulder.

For a mature and sophisticated look, you can opt for the A-line style of dress.  These dresses give the “confident” look and can be quite tricky to pull off.  You will need to make sure that the make up and hair is well coordinated to avoid a staggered look.
